Announced as a major new line for commuting in the Île-de-France, the line 16, with its lovely candy pink color (a delightful mix of the colors of line 7 and your favorite magazine), will open its doors by 2028. Spanning 3 departments, it will provide a new way to travel to the east of the capital, and we have little doubt that it will quickly become absolutely essential.
From adventure to adventure, from university to university
Stretching 29 km, crossing 16 municipalities and comprising 10 stations, the upcoming new line of the Île-de-France Mobilités network will connect Saint-Denis – Pleyel station to Noisy – Champs station. Along the way, the future train will make accessibility much better for not just 1, not even 2…
but actually 4 universities, academies or university research centers.Métro ligne 16 & 17

Thanks to this new line, the daily life of many tens of thousands of students, teachers, and researchers is set to change, and for the better, we hope! It will indeed allow you to reach Créteil University in less than 30 minutes from Clichy-sous-Bois, compared to 1 hour and 20 minutes today. Likewise, it will make it easier to access the Descartes campus, as well as the Fratellini Academy, which specializes in circus arts training, and even the University of Saint-Denis, in a way.
A Fragmented Opening
Initially, expected to be operational by 2027, line 16 will open on the section between Saint-Denis – Pleyel and Clichy – Montfermeil, which is 8 of the 10 future stations. The year .Next, the stations Chelles – Gournay and Noisy – Champs will also become accessible. These openings will happen sooner than expected, and that's fantastic news considering that 80% of the stops will offer connections with existing transport.
