If the essence of theater is to be immersive, the new temple of live performances that just opened in the 11th arrondissement is its most tangible incarnation. Since May, the Théâtre à la minute has been offering the public a never-before-seen concept in France: 15-minute plays, staged in tiny rooms of about 15m2, in front of the bright eyes of 15 people, and for the sum of, not 15 euros (phew!), but a neat 10 euros flat (a price that's quite reasonable). This promises an intense experience, up close and personal with the actors.

A mix of theater, cinema, and bar

The project came to life thanks to Muriel Cejas, a theater actress originally from Cuba. As she shares with our colleagues from Parisien, the young woman “discovered this format in Spain in 2011” and found it “awesome.” Her ambition? “To attract an audience that doesn’t go to the theater, while the tiny venues create an intimacy that “makes it feel more like being at the cinema,” enthusiastic Estelle Courret, who is starring in one of the plays. At a .detail nearby: instead of being static, comfortably nestled in their seats, the audience can be standing, and systematically changing rooms throughout the performances (if multiple have been reserved), all while snacking, as the space also serves as a bar for debriefing after the session.

New shows every day

In a cheerful atmosphere filled with laughter, mischief, and excitement, the professional actors feel energized by the audience's vibes. They perform what we call "adult" plays on odd days, and family-friendly sketches on even days, making sure everyone, young and old, can join in on the fun. For the upcoming season, you can dive into the series The Love That Remains, with intense representations of desire, heated arguments, and delightful surprises, or choose  Time Fleeting, a collection of calmer and sweeter performances that rediscover "the simplicity of first love, the tenderness of family bonds, the magic of little things". From burlesque, Comedy Club, the Théâtre à la minute expresses its love for live performances without ever setting any boundaries. Drag show
