What if you discovered opera like you've never seen it before? This weekend, from May 9 to 11, around twenty opera houses and lyrical companies will open their doors for free to the public as part of the Everyone to the Opera initiative, including 4 in Île-de-France: the Palais Garnier, the Opéra Comique, the Opéra Royal de Versailles and the Opéra de Massy. It’s the 18th edition boldly titled Melting-pot to celebrate the blending of influences at the heart of this often-overlooked art form. Marina Viotti, mezzo-soprano, and François Chaignaud, dancer-choreographer, will be the ambassadors of the event.

An unprecedented mentor-mentee duo

In the last edition, Guillaume Diop, étoile dancer at the Ballet of the Opéra national de Paris, had agreed to be the mentor of Everyone at the Opera.

a. This young prodigy is followed, for the first time, by an equally prestigious duo, composed of the lyrical singer Marina Viotti and the choreographer François Chaignaud. One of them is, starting this year, the first woman to have won a Grammy Award in the category of Best Metal Performance for her performance alongside Gojira at the opening ceremony of the Olympics; the other has been involved for over a decade in creating impactful shows both in France and internationally, including Pâquerette, Sylphides and (M)IMOSA.

These two sponsors will thus have the responsibility to convey the specific values of the event: the encounter of different disciplines and artistic practices, but also, more broadly, solidarity, inclusion, and diversity.
