Every year, the capital transforms into a true living theater to celebrate the Lunar New Year. More than just a festive event, these parades serve as a bridge between cultures, an invitation to journey through ancient traditions brought to life by the dance of lions, resonating drums, and stunning costumes.

This Wednesday, January 29, 2025, marked the start of a new year in the lunar calendar, as well as the transition to the year of the Wooden Snake, following the Year of the Wooden Dragon. A symbol of wisdom and renewal, this creature will, of course, be at the heart of the celebrations. In Paris, the festivities are set to kick off with three major parades in February! A magical and unifying moment that you won’t want to miss.

The Champs-Élysées

They Open the Ball

This Sunday, February 2nd, the most iconic avenue in Paris and the world will host an exceptional parade to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Organized by the Mugua association in partnership with the China Tourism Office in Paris and Fouquet’s Paris, this celebration honors Chinese tradition with a procession in Hanfu, the sumptuous traditional Chinese garments. If you don't have one, the association offers rentals and will also set up a makeup booth on-site.

Two highlight performances will energize this festive march: the Ying Ge Dance, a folk performance over 300 years old, where dancers dressed as warriors move in time to the rhythm of drums and horns; and the Lion Dance, a must-see at celebrations, symbolizing prosperity and luck, known for its acrobatic choreography and lively musicians. In total, more than 300 artists and performers will bring this event to life.

this parade promises a spectacular celebration that’s part of a series of events marking the Chinese New Year in the capital.
