Living « together […], live and outdoors » the grand finale of Eurovision is the invitation extended by the City to Parisians on its Instagram account this Monday, May 5. After various esplanades spread throughout Paris during the Olympics and the recent announcement of the screening of the Roland Garros matches at Place de la Concorde, it’s now Eurovision, the European singing contest, that will have its own fan zone, and this time from Place de la Bastille. The event, titled "Boom of the Eurovision", will take place on Saturday, May 17, the day of the final, with free and open access.

Karaoke, DJ sets, and after-party
Before tuning in at 9:10 PM for the 69th edition of the competition on the big screen, get ready for a great karaoke and some DJ sets starting at 5 PM. The cheerful folks who come out can definitely expect to see some LGBTQIA+ flags waving in the sky, as May 17th represents the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. “Broadcasting Eurovision in the Place de la Bastille is a strong message of mobilization against LGBTQIAphobia, as this contest embodies inclusion and diversity ,” reminded Jean-Luc Romero, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of fighting discrimination, in an interview with the magazine .mme-17-mai/">Têtu. After the verdict, around 12:30 AM, there will be an after party that could last for many hours if France wins.

Louane, a proud representative of France at Eurovision
This year, it's none other than Louane, well-known on the French music scene since her appearance on the show The Voice in 2013, who will wave the tricolor flag at Eurovision. The singer from the north, behind timeless hits like "Je Vole", "Jour 1" and "Avenir", will try to succeed Nemo, the Swiss winner of 2024, with her heartfelt song "Maman". This intimate piece pays tribute to her mother, who passed away when she was just 17. Louane will perform at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel (Switzerland) on May 13 and 15 for the semi-finals, and on May 17 for the grand finale. As of today, this 28-year-old is among the top favorites of the competition, even though France...France hasn't won a single edition since 1977.
