« In the middle of winter, we learned that within us lies an invincible summer. » By quoting Albert Camus to kick off its upcoming programming, the Gaîté Lyrique sets the tone. After six months of being closed, it’s not completely out of the woods, as the City of Paris hasn’t contributed to its economic recovery. But it’s holding on tight and is determined to make it through the summer. For its reopening, part of the France Music Week, it’s the rap enthusiasts who will be treated to a charity evening led by Grünt, an essential platform in the French rap scene. It’s happening this Tuesday, June 17, starting at 7:30 PM, from the stage of the cultural establishment where...yield a beautiful selection of committed artists.

Circumstantial line-up

The event, made possible thanks to the efforts of the National Music Center (CNM) and Grünt, “a partner with heart and values” of La Gaîté Lyrique, will donate all its proceeds to the cultural venue, transformed into a rap stage. For the occasion, a Very nice line-up has been put together, featuring Médine, EDGE, Sydo, and BEN plg, established rappers with sharp rhetoric who will get the crowds going before making way, on Tuesday, June 18, for MIG, Wensly, Nono la Grinta, and OGII, a series of rappers invited for a second set, all part of France Music Week.

A Summer of Residencies and Beyond

Alongside these concerts, the Gaîté Lyrique plans a busy reopening in several stages. The cultural venue will resume residencies within the building “with cultural institutions (Ukrainian Institute in Paris, etc.), social and solidarity economy groups (On est Prêt, Imagine 2050, etc.), and independent media (Kommune, Streetpress).” A call for residents will also be launched in June to rent out workspaces, filming studios, podcasting, and recording studios offered by the venue. Institutions and businesses looking for a place to organize their events can start booking the Gaîté Lyrique from today.

Everything happens directly at the establishment, located at 3 bis, rue Papin, in the 3rd arrondissement. However, the majority of the...Cute events open to the public will take place outside the walls this summer, relocated to third places like Le Point Éphémère, The Zero Waste House, Cité Fertile, TLM, and FGO Barbara… This will give cultural actors the chance to prepare for the big return to the site in September, with the hope of a full reopening in 2026 in the background.
