Environmental challenges, technical and technological advancements, speed and performance… For sailing professionals and sailors around the globe, what will the offshore race of tomorrow look like? On November 28, the National Maritime Museum is hosting an exceptional evening featuring debates, artistic performances, workshops, a pop-up bar, and exclusive access to the temporary exhibition Solo around the World, which will run until January 26.

An evening to imagine the race of tomorrow

Regardless of the medium, the offshore race of tomorrow will be at the heart of this exceptional evening at the National Maritime Museum. In the auditorium, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, there will be a meeting featuring Roland Jourdain, skipper and co-manager of Kaïros, Etienne Le Pen, life cycle assessment engineer at Kaïros, and...

finally Antoine Mermod, president of the IMOCA class. It will be moderated by the commissioners of the exhibition Solo Around the World, Lénaïg L’Aot-Lombard and Didier Ravon. Together, the speakers will try to envision how to give a new direction to offshore racing in the face of environmental challenges.

In the museum hall, an artistic performance will also take place from 7 PM to 9:30 PM by the French street art duo Titomulk, who will share their vision of the future of ocean racing live.

But that's not all! Throughout the evening, from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM, a multitude of activities will be offered in all areas of the museum to immerse visitors in the world of ocean racing: slogan writing workshop on poster, testing the video game Virtual Regatta Inshore to assess your skills as a skipper, exhibition tour… Not to mention the pop-up bar featuring Monument Café and the photo booth to keep a memory of your visit. In short, an immersive evening accessible to everyone!

An exhibition at the heart of solo sailing

This exceptional evening resonates with the exhibition Solo Around the World, which immerses visitors in the fascinating world of solo circumnavigation, connected to the tenth edition of the Vendée Globe that kicked off this Sunday, November 10.

Through a series of maritime objects, immersive stories, and video testimonials, the exhibition retraces the feats and challenges of skippers as they navigate the oceans of the globe. Alongside the greatest skippers, visitors will discover the must-see milestones of a solo, non-stop, unsupported round-the-world sailing trip, reliving all the emotions.
