More than forty years after seeing its first skates glide to disco tunes, La Main Jaune, the legendary Parisian nightclub and France's first roller disco, is finally getting a makeover. Announced in 2024, its renovation near the Porte de Champerret is coming very, very soon, as the site's managers clearly stated on Instagram: see you in spring!

Sophie Marceau, La Boum and the 80s

Vic? It’s Pénélope, we’re all going to La Main Jaune tonight. ” Just one phone call was enough for young Sophie Marceau to find herself gliding on skates, dancing to the most catchy slow dance song, the famous “Reality” by Richard Sanderson. This iconic scene from La Boum has of course helped shape the legend of La Main Jaune, deeply rooted in 80s Paris. So much so,

that its roller rink had been making young people sway for nearly 25 years, before its permanent closure in 2003. Since then, this legendary place had been left abandoned – and occasionally taken over by artist collectives – until the City of Paris included it in its “Reinvent the City” project call in 2017, paving the way for an ambitious rehabilitation.

The Yellow Hand is Coming Back to Life

The Yellow Hand 2.0 is happening now! The project has been entrusted to Rudy Dabi, an entrepreneur at the helm of MasterSound, who has orchestrated the revival of this legendary club. What can you expect? Recording studios, some offices and workspaces, a performance hall, and of course, the iconic roller disco rink is making its grand return. In terms of programming, expect less disco and more electro (though we would love to groove a little like Vic), with music and dance classes offered during the day, followed by concerts and DJ sets in the evenings and on weekends. In short, it's a place that will bring the spirit of the '80s to life in today's clubs. We can't wait for spring to arrive!
