Some months ago, we talked about all the measures that could soon transform the face of the Champs-Élysées in the eyes of the world. But did you know there’s another equally massive project already underway on the most beautiful avenue in the world? To discover this colossal construction, you need to go beneath the cobblestones of the street, into a huge former parking lot that’s about to have its purpose completely redefined.

A state-of-the-art center

In 2020, the Mont Thabor group became the owner of this old parking lot that had been abandoned for 7 years. Initially, the plan was to renovate it so it could serve the same function, but the Covid crisis and the 15-minute city policy led to...The City Hall of Paris is changing things up to give birth to "the Logistics Workshop," a massive storage platform like no other.

The principle of the location is simple: to respond to the ever-increasing delivery needs of local shops, which often lack storage space, while limiting the carbon footprint generated by heavy traffic from motor vehicles that transport goods. This led to the idea of developing this massive storage point to reduce unnecessary trips.

To achieve this, the location will soon offer 10,000 m² of storage spread across 9 underground floors, entirely managed by robots guided by artificial intelligence (AI). Active 24/7, they will enable quick unloading of trucks and reduce street congestion, which is very important due to the ... (text seems incomplete).

deliveries frequent at the level of the roadway.

Zero-Emission Deliveries

In addition to clearing the avenue, and allowing for a larger storage capacity for the nearby shops, this place has a genuine ecological purpose. And for good reason, all vehicles entering will be guaranteed to be clean. On top of that, the size and location of the space are real advantages, as they will limit overly frequent deliveries thanks to a greater storage capacity, and will also ensure fast and green deliveries with cargo bikes, electric cycles, small electric utility vehicles, or even on foot. All of this within about twenty minutes, no matter the destination in the city.

Even though we applaud the project and its ecological focus, we can't help but feel a bit disappointed that it further supports the overwhelming power of the fashion industry on the Champs-Élysées, at the expense of culture. This is an injustice that was already highlighted a few days ago, when we learned what will soon replace the legendary old Fnac on the avenue…
