It's THE news we didn't want to hear, but just a few hours before the start of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Météo France has placed Paris and the entire Île-de-France region on yellow alert for rain and flooding, starting at 8pm. However, the ceremony will take place on the Seine between 7:30pm and 11:15pm.

Rain expected throughout the evening

So, it's literally a rainy evening that awaits the 300,000 spectators gathered along the Seine tonight. Far from a real shipwreck, the ceremony should be able to proceed without too many hitches, although " the forecast scenario of recent days, mentioning a risk of precipitation, is confirmed for the end of the day. The rain will indeed return in the late afternoon. It will be continuous, sometimes heavy, until the middle of the night ", says Météo France, as reported by Le Parisien.

A moderate alert.

No need to panic, the yellow alert corresponds to a relatively moderate warning but confirms that the rain will water the around 95 boats, 3000 artists and 6000 athletes who will parade on the Seine. After all, we already had Celine Dion and the boats, all that was missing was the water in the equation. Get your umbrellas ready!
