Why will this July 14th be "the biggest parade ever seen"?

The countdown has begun for our President. In just under a year now, on May 14th, he will have to leave office, and he has indeed started his farewell tour, especially his series of last times. Last Tour de France, last Music Festival, last All-Nighter, last November 11th, and soon, last July 14th. It's his chance to make a lasting impression one last time and do his best to boost his popularity, which has been at a low point for a few years.

A grand event

Since 1880, every year during the National Day, French military troops are invited to parade in an immense procession that, for a few decades now...

It traditionally takes place on the Champs-Élysées. A demonstration of the country's military power, held in the presence of the head of state and a host of government officials. An event that reinforces the President's position as the commander of the armed forces, which Macron intends to capitalize on one last time.

A True Showcase of French Power

This demonstration of strength, which seems significant given the international context and as Donald Trump has announced the withdrawal of American forces from the European continent, has been quietly prepared within the presidential palace for several months now. For this occasion, the President plans to invite several foreign heads of state, including those from the around forty member countries of the Coalition of Volunteers, who are working towards ending the conflict in Ukraine. A final publicity stunt for someone who has announced that he will not be involved in politics after 2027? Perhaps, but we hope at least that the staging will be as impressive as the ceremony...Opening ceremony of the Olympics.
