Just like any true Parisian, you're likely a bit chauvinistic and only swear by your own neighborhood. But are you really seeing it objectively? This new ranking, based on ratings from the city's residents themselves, might just surprise you.
Le 16ème et le 8ème sont les meilleurs arrondissements de Paris et je ne suis pas ouvert au débat

A Survey Open to Everyone
For several years, the website ville-ideale.fr has allowed French people to rate their city, based on specific criteria (environment, transportation, safety, health, culture, shopping, etc.) all rated on a scale of 10. And for the capital, the rating is broken down by districts, allowing for a ranking of the best neighborhoods. Each one receives a rating left by Mr. and Mrs. Everyone. And one thing is certain, we didn't expect these results. Especially for the bottom of the ranking, because at the end of the list we find... The 10th!
C'est quoi pour vous les meilleurs arrondissements de Paris ?

Some eloquent comments
Yes, it also surprised us here at the editorial office to see that the 10th district received the lowest rating. But we have to admit that the comments are harsh, and maybe a bit justified. Not everything needs to be redone, but in the 10th district, cars and bikes are everywhere, sometimes a bit recklessly. The streets are not always clean, and the overly festive aspect of the neighborhood unfortunately backfires, because the noise and visual disturbances are sometimes a bit too much for the locals, and that can be understood. Therefore, in general, many residents don't feel completely safe in their own neighborhood, and we can imagine that must be unpleasant. We would not have bet on that, but seen like that, we are obliged to bow down.
Le 10e arrondissement de Paris... Un cauchemar, le pire de tous.

Family first
On the other hand, we notice that the districts that dominate the ranking are rather family-friendly, touristy areas, and above all… expensive : the 5th, at the top, with a lovely average of 8.37. The 8th, the 12th, the 6th, the 15th. In short, places where people move when they have more than 2 children and are ready to give up a kidney (each) for a home. Meanwhile, the reviews are glowing: it's clean, green, calm, access to education and culture is surprisingly easy, and above all, you feel safe everywhere. And that, that's priceless (figuratively speaking, of course).

A general ranking that leaves something to be desired?
Well, based on the ratings and comments, it's hard to believe that the panel responsible for the rankings truly represents the population of Paris. However, it's still quite informative, and if you want to improve the rating of your neighborhood, all you have to do is leave a comment and give it a like (as the youth say). We'll provide you with the complete ranking so you can assess the quality of your area for yourself.
