Weather: Thunderstorms are back in Paris today!

After a brief burst of beautiful weather in recent weeks, Météo France is clear: rain will return to Paris starting this Saturday, May 31st, and it could cause some trouble. The weather service has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in around twenty departments, including all those that make up Île-de-France. So, what should we expect at the start of this (real) weekend?

You might have almost believed it. While the rainfall had calmed down a bit recently, it seems the break was short-lived. The weather forecasts are clear: summer is not coming just yet, as a new wave of rain and thunderstorms is expected in the region. The first rumbles of thunder should be heard as early as today in the capital. So, if you're heading out, we suggest you don’t forget your raincoats (just like in Brittany).


Thunder of Zeus

Parisians, we want to give you a heads up, there’s going to be some sports. While yesterday we were blessed with weather that felt like the best summer days, today, we’re experiencing a 180-degree turnaround that might catch us off guard.

It’s about to kick off! And for good reason, Météo France has announced the arrival of a stormy wave sweeping across the country starting today. “On Saturday, a thunderstorm degradation begins, first in the Central Massif, before spreading to the north and northeast of the country,” you can read on the site of the weather experts.

So, in the capital, the first claps of thunder might echo around 1 PM, continuing until about 10 PM. For those planning to watch the most important match of the year on a terrace with friends, we suggest finding a backup plan as soon as possible, in some random apartment, you'll definitely be better off than under those potential downpours.


A mixed weather forecast

Fortunately, the temperatures should remain steady, staying pretty much the same as yesterday, with a lovely 30°C at the peak of the day. Unfortunately, starting Sunday, we'll be dropping a few notches on the thermometer, as it will "only" be 25°C, and likely not very nice. A shift in .saw teeth, which will continue in the coming days. Indeed, for now, the forecasts for next week are predicting that the weather might switch from rain to sunshine, making us go from laughter to tears all at the same time.
