The Editor

Have you been among those complaining about the less-than-glorious weather in recent weeks? Well, this week, you're in for a treat with plenty of sunshine and warmth. The heatwave is making a grand return to the capital and across the country, prompting the authorities to place most of the southwestern departments on red alert due to expected temperatures exceeding 40°C. In Paris, we won't hit such extremes, but the days promise to be quite sweaty, and the nights won’t really cool us down…

Between 30°C and 34°C expected this week

It’s quite simple, from Monday, August 11 to Sunday, August 17, the weather will be straightforward: sunshine, again and again. What a delight, especially since this week brings us a long weekend thanks to the holiday on Friday, August 15. But we might be surprised by the temperatures. On Tuesday, August 12, 34°C is expected in the capital, dropping to only 29°C in the evening, as shown by Météo France. A similar forecast applies for the next day, Wednesday, August 13, with 33°C during the day. On Thursday, August 14, 31°C is predicted, 32°C on Friday, August 15, 31°C on Saturday, August 16, and 30°C on Sunday, August 17.

circ;t. So it will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy the pools, the îlots de fraîcheur, or even a swim in the Seine for the more adventurous among us.

A part of the country in red and orange alert

For now, the red alert in the Southwest, and the orange alert in half of France is maintained until at least Tuesday, August 12. The peak of heat is mainly expected between Monday, August 11, and Tuesday, August 12. As a reminder, during heatwave episodes like this one, it is recommended to stay hydrated throughout the day, avoid going out during the hottest hours, wet your body several times a day, keep the shutters and curtains closed, and be vigilant with more vulnerable and elderly people. If you notice a fire starting, call 18 or 112.
