Weather: the return of snow in Paris starting tomorrow?

In the past few days, it's clear that the temperatures have taken a significant dive in the capital. And to celebrate the arrival of 2025, we might even step it up starting this Friday, January 3rd, as Paris has been placed on yellow alert for snow and icing.

At the start of this year, no less than thirty departments have been placed on yellow alert by Météo France. And that doesn’t sound good, because climate specialists are clear: we can expect negative temperatures, a biting wind, and maybe even some snowflakes waiting for us tomorrow on the streets of Paris. So for the luckiest among you, stay cozy under the covers, and for the rest, gloves, hats, scarves, and a big warm coat will be essential.


2025 Under the Sign of the Big Chill

For a few weeks now, the weather has been playing a bit with our nerves. Temperatures are swinging up and down constantly, the rain is going wild, and the sun is definitely nowhere to be seen. And it seems that 2025 is not going to bring us...

nothing new at this level, because while the end of the weekend will be quite mild, with a lovely 11°C, we will have to first face an intense cold wave, with temperatures dropping below 0.

And while 15 departments are on yellow alert starting today, tomorrow, this number will double, with around thirty departments, including Paris, worried about snow and ice. To sum it up, it's the entire north-east of the country, from Normandy to Jura, that will be affected by this significant drop in temperature. And of course, the whole of Île-de-France is involved in all this.


Snowflakes on the streets of Paris ?

But let's not get too excited just yet. If the temperatures will be around -2° C this Friday morning, the snow alert will be lifted by 10 AM in the streets of the capital. It seems that we won’t m&ec.

I can't enjoy the comforting sight of a snowy Paris to ring in the new year. Indeed, according to Météo France, no snowflakes are expected to make an appearance on the streets of the capital. And that makes us very sad.

To cheer us up, we should be able to count on the return of the sun which, for the first time this year, should definitely be making an appearance. And that already brings us joy! So, just to recap for tomorrow, the essentials are: hat, gloves, scarves, and sunglasses!
