Here we are at the start of the year 2026: it's time to take stock of the cultural scene in 2025. And when it comes to Paris, the results are quite positive, especially regarding museum attendance. Welcoming several million visitors, the museums of the City of Paris have enchanted visitors from all over the globe with both their permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Over five million visitors in 2025
5,166,874 visitors explored the museums of the City of Paris in 2025. That's a significant number, showing a big rise compared to the previous year, which saw 6.6% fewer visitors in 2024. This proves that even without hosting the Olympic Games, Paris remains incredibly attractive to the world, and perhaps even more so!

The permanent collections attracted 2.85 million people (which is 4.3% more than in 2024), while 2.3 million visitors came to see the temporary exhibitions. Among them, Worth, Inventing Haute Couture at the Petit Palais, Matisse and Marguerite at the Musée d'Art Moderne, and The Paris of Agnès Varda at the Carnavalet Museum have been particularly popular.
Two museums will reopen in 2026
What can we hope for in 2026? A similar popularity, or even an increase given the exciting exhibitions lined up.
the fabulous Parisian exhibitions awaiting visitors. Even more so this year, several establishments that were previously closed for renovations will reopen their doors.
