On Tuesday, July 9th, an announcement was made in the Official Journal listing more than 500 individuals who were being honored in the Legion of Honour promotion for July 14th. Usually, this announcement is made on the national holiday, but due to current political circumstances, it was moved up. Ministers are responsible for proposing recipients for this prestigious medal, and this year over 500 people were recognized. A total of 521 individuals were promoted or nominated in the national order of the Legion of Honour. Among them are individuals who have shown dedication to serving the public good and promoting France, such as former Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne, TV host Michel Drucker, mathematician Claire Voisin, and actors J.ean Reno and Alain Ducasse, who were both promoted to the rank of commander. Chef Alain Ducasse was promoted to officer.

Bernard Esambert, president of the Georges Pompidou Institute, and Joëlle Kauffmann, former gynecologist and feminist activist, have received the grand cross, the highest honor of the Legion of Honor.

Culture, media, and science honored

Culture has a special place in our lives...ultra important in this promotion. The actress was also promoted. Congratulations to all the awardees!

Virginie Efira, the director Marjane Satrapi, the writer Amin Maalouf, and the choreographer Benjamin Millepied have been notably promoted to the rank of knight. This is also the case for the journalist Caroline Fourest and the doctor and presenter Michel Cymes. The resistance has also been honored since Suzette Champavier, Léon Roux, and René Brunet join the promotion.

Hey there! Did you know that every year, we celebrate two civilian promotions on January 1st and July 14th, as well as two military promotions on January 1st and November 1st? And guess what, since 2008, we've been making sure that gender equality is respected in civilian promotions. How awesome is that?
