A decisive intervention. On the morning of October 15, Jhordana, a 27-year-old Brazilian, was traveling from Paris to Juvisy-sur-Orge (RER C) when a man attempted to attack her in an almost empty train carriage. Isolated and in danger, the victim was pushed and strangled by the assailant.
Marguerite, who was also on the train, immediately intervened. She stepped in between the attacker and the victim, yelled to make him back off, and then filmed the scene to secure the situation. Cornered, the man eventually fled and was apprehended a few days later in Mantes-la-Jolie.

Heroic Intervention on the RER C
Thanks to this quick and decisive intervention, Marguerite prevented a rape and helped Jhordana feel safe after this traumatic episode.
Marguerite is no stranger to crisis situations. As the head of a middle and high school in Val-de-Marne, she has also managed several emergency shelters where conflicts and violence are common, especially with individuals facing mental health issues or addictions. Her experience has helped her stay calm and handle the situation effectively.

Her act of bravery swas awarded the medal of Île-de-France , as announced by the regional council president Valérie Pécresse on social media. She also reminded everyone that anyone who witnesses or is a victim of an assault can contact 3117 to get a swift response from security forces.

The suspect arrested will be placed in provisional detention
Placed in police custody right away, the suspect, a 26-year-old man without a fixed address, acknowledged the altercation but denies any attempt at rape.
Unknown to the French justice system, he will be brought before the Créteil prosecutor for “attempted rape” and held in provisional detention. The victim was examined by a forensic doctor and has received five days of complete work incapacity.
