Ah, the RER… What a vast topic! It's often hated by Parisians, who swear by the metro and see it as a shady place where Satan reigns supreme. On the flip side, it's praised by suburbanites, who see it as a way out to enjoy the delights of the capital in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, they all agree that, whatever the line, its operation is far too often chaotic. And bad news, this announcement might just prove them right.
A grey summer for the RER B
For the past few weeks, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) has been rolling out announcements about summer construction. And just when the RER A is set to throw a few obstacles in our way, now it's time for the...
RER B is going to face some challenges, with at least 3 weeks of work and a suspension of service. We're kicking things off with the northern section, managed by the SNCF, which will be significantly affected between July 25 and August 16. During this time, the number of trains will be greatly reduced, and above all, all trains will be terminating at Gare du Nord. Yes, this slight disruption is just the tip of the iceberg, and the southern section is where we expect the bulk of the issues to arise.Chaleur = retour des galères sur le RER À et B. Vraiment les pires lignes au monde. Je sais pas à quoi servent les travaux chaque été

No Break for the South
Indeed, while all trains coming from the north will terminate at Gare du Nord during this period, it's simply because traffic will be completely suspended between this stop (the largest station in Europe in terms of foot traffic, by the way) and Bourg-la-Reine. So, goodbye to Châtelet, Saint-Michel, Luxembourg, and all the other Paris stops, from July 25 to August 16 as well. Even worse, during the period from August 7 to 16, the interruption will be extended to the south up to La Croix de Berny on one line, and Robinson on the other. The only good news is that, to make up for this lack of trains, IDFM has decided to provide free rides on the OrlyVal for travelers.Navigo pass holders, to allow them to reach the capital via line 14 from Anthony, one of the last stations still standing against the construction. In any case, wishing good luck to everyone!
Pendant les fermetures d’été du RER B, Orlyval sera gratuit pour les abonnés Navigo
