Here we are: we are already diving into the second long weekend of May! Since Friday, May 8, 2026, is a public holiday, we have the chance to enjoy a long weekend that we've been eagerly waiting for. And just like last week with May 1st, there's one question that remains: what will be open or closed in Paris that day? We’ve got the answers for you!
Openings and Closures in Paris on May 8, 2026
The Metro
Let's just say it's a bit of a disaster for metro stations. In total, six stations — Argentine, Charles de Gaulle - Étoile, George V, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Champs-Élysées — Clémenceau, and Kléber — will be closed, and there will be disruptions on lines 1, 2, 6, 9, and 13. This is due to the ceremony honoring the armistice. The RER B is also...is also affected since a portion of the line between Gare de Nord and Roissy will be closed.

The Museums
While many museums were closed on May 1st—Labor Day—on May 8th, the vast majority of cultural institutions will open their doors to the public. This is delightful, especially considering the rain that is expected!nnoncée. It's a great opportunity to enjoy the Louvre, the Museum of Modern Art, and its exhibition on Lee Miller, the European House of Photography, the Montmartre Museum, and its exhibition on Adya and Otto van Rees, along with many other museums.

On the cinema front, there’s nothing to report! The dark rooms are ready to welcome you. And while Just a Illusion and The Devil Wears Prada 2 are still showing, we’re also eagerly waiting for the comedy What’s Love All About? or the action film The Criminals.
