Deleted in 2014, the Paris-Berlin night train is back this Monday, December 11, as announced by the Austrian company ÖBB, which operates the service. This excellent news is part of an effort to revitalize train travel, particularly night trains, in France and the rest of Europe, especially for environmental reasons.

3 connections per week

"The service will start on December 11 from Berlin, three times a week, before becoming daily from October 2024," said Bernhard Rieder, spokesperson for ÖBB, to AFP. Announced since 2020 by SNCF, ÖBB, and Deutsche Bahn, the long-awaited return has finally come.

The reopening of this night train route is now confirmed. The first train leaving Berlin on December 11th, you will have to wait until the 12th to board from Paris heading to the German capital (yes, we are also eagerly waiting).

Regarding the journey, after leaving Paris, the train stops at Strasbourg, Mannheim, Erfurt, and Halle before reaching Berlin, in about 13 hours. It consists of a total of 12 cars, with 6 heading to Berlin and 6 heading to Vienna. In fact, the ÖBB night network is reorganized for this occasion by incorporating Berlin into its existing night lines that connect Paris to Vienna and Brussels to Vienna.

I don't know about you, but we have a little idea of where we'll spend our winter vacations...
