If you plan to drive to Paris on Monday, August 25, 2025, be prepared to be especially patient, or even consider skipping it entirely. Why? This date marks the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Liberation of Paris. To celebrate this occasion, traffic in the city center will be particularly restricted. Let's take a look at the imposed restrictions.

Restrictions on Traffic and Parking in Central Paris

According to a prefectural decree published on August 12th, it will be prohibited to park — regardless of the type of vehicle — at Place de l’Hôtel de Ville-esplanade de la Libération, as well as on Avenue Victoria (between the square of l’Hôtel de Ville and Rue de la Coutellerie). This ban will be in effect on August 25, 2025, from 10 AM to 8 PM.

It will also be prohibited to circulate throughout the Rue de Lobau, the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, the Quai de l’Hôtel de Ville (in the east-west direction between the Louis-Philippe Bridge and the Quai de Gesvres), and Avenue Victoria (between the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville and Rue de la Coutellerie). Any violation of these provisions may result in the immobilization of the concerned vehicle.

Commemorative ceremonies organized throughout the capital

On Monday, August 25th, various ceremonies will be held in every corner of the capital: at the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville, in front of the Tree of Liberty (Place Stalingrad, 19th), in front of the plaque honoring the deportees (Gare de l’Est, 10th), on the Place du 18 Juin 1940 (6th), and in front of the statue of Marshal Leclerc.

rc (Porte d'Orléans, 14th). On Sunday, August 24, a tribute will also be paid to the Spanish fighters in the garden of la Nueve.
