« The main stage Orbyz of Tomorrowland Belgium 2025 [...] is no more. » This Wednesday, July 16th, around 6 PM, a significant fire broke out around the main stage of Tomorrowland, an electro and techno festival located in Boom, near Antwerp, Belgium. Several hundred firefighters were deployed to contain the blaze; while it has eventually been brought under control, the main stage and its decorations, which took nearly two years to build, have been completely destroyed.
« It is impossible to put into words how we feel », express the organizers in a statement. Scheduled for July 18-20 and then July 25-27, they have not yet decided whether to proceed or cancel the event, taking the day to assess the safety of the site.

The burned main stage, the festival on stand-by
A fire broke out at the end of the day on the main stage where the most spectacular installations were located. Emergency services quickly rushed to the scene to try to control the disaster, while future festival-goers discovered the extent of the damage on social media: decorations completely burned, revealing only the metallic framework of the stage. According to information from the Belgian media Het Laatste Nieuws, the likely cause of the fire might be linked to devices p. yrotechniques integrated into the decor. The Antwerp parquet has opened an investigation for "accidental fire".
This Thursday, July 17, the fire has been brought under control and the site is considered "safe for operations", though this doesn't mean that the main stage affected by the fire is stable enough to support the weight of the thousands of festival-goers expected. Organizers are expected to make a decision during the day, currently consulting with experts and government services.

Over 100,000 festival-goers expected this weekend
« The only thing we are sure of is the opening of DreamVille [the official camping area] and the welcome [for international festival-goers] in Brussels », declared Debby Wilmsen, spokesperson for Tomorrowland, on Belgian television. 40,000 people are expected right from the opening this Friday, July 18, and more than 100,000 in total by Sunday. If the event goes ahead, it’s impossible to know where Martin Garrix, Charlotte de Witte, Armin van Buuren, and David Guetta, headliners whose performances were set to take place on the main stage, will perform.
