This is one of the most popular measures of the reform presented by Véronique Louwagie, the delegated minister in charge of Commerce. Starting in 2027, employees will be able to use their meal vouchers 7 days a week, including Sundays, to shop for groceries. This is a relief for millions of French people who use this important social benefit almost daily.

Adapting to the "new habits" of employees
For now, the law prohibits using meal vouchers (TR) for food intended for the Sunday lunch feast (and public holidays), as it is deemed appropriate to align the usage of the system, co-financed by employers and over 5 million employees, with working hours. However, this provision could be repealed if Parliament votes on it, which will examine the reform soon, with implementation planned for January 1, 2027.
For the government, the goal is to encourage consumption and respond to new habits , with 6 out of 10 French people bringing their homemade meals to work when they are not in remote work.
However, they cannot be used on a holiday, as the system is meant to "stay directly connected to the world of work", according to Véronique Louwagie.🔴 Les tickets resto pourront être utilisés le dimanche partout

End of paper format expected by February 2027
Another anticipated measure: the end of the paper format. From February 28, 2027, “restaurants and issuers must, on their side, anticipate to no longer have stocks of [paper tickets],” states Véronique Louwagie. This digitization aims to simplify procedures for merchants, reduce fees charged by issuers, and allow for precise cent-level payments for employees.
Finally, their use will be extended to the entire national territory, no longer limited to departments close to the workplace. The daily limit of €25 remains unchanged, and the controversial measure that allows them in supermarkets has been made permanent (excluding alcohol, candies, baby products, and pet food).
