In the training restaurants of the FERRANDI school, it's the students who work the stoves, with their teachers overseeing everything. And best of all, you can enjoy lunch in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood without emptying your wallet at the till.

Eating at FERRANDI for less than 40€

Nicknamed the "Harvard of gastronomy," FERRANDI is well-known for its aspiring chefs, but less so for its dining venues. Yet the culinary school is home to two restaurants open to the public: Le Premier and Le 28. The concept is straightforward: students put into practice what they learn in class, both in the kitchen and on the floor, in genuine restaurant conditions. A pretty clever way to

discover their work before, perhaps, finding them a few years later behind the stoves of their own establishments.

And when it comes to the bill, a pleasant surprise awaits! At Premier, lunch is offered at €39, with cuisine that changes regularly throughout the seasons and their training. For those wanting to extend the experience, the lunch tasting menu and dinner are priced at €56.

At 28, it's the same idea: the students put their own spin on classic dishes and also offer a midday set menu at €39. No menu set in stone here: what you'll eat depends on the moment, the ingredients available, and especially the students' curriculum.

A table where you also come to watch tomorrow's chefs at work

The appeal of these restaurants ultimately goes beyond their price tag. When you come to lunch at FERRANDI, you're also witnessing, in a way, the beginnings of those who may well shape French gastronomy tomorrow. Students work under the supervision of their instructors and must manage the service under conditions similar to those of a traditional restaurant. The result? An experience that's a little different from your typical restaurant lunch. And a great excuse to make your way across Paris to Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Book well in advance!

One important detail to know before you arrive: tables go fast. Reservations open exclusively online, 20 days before your desired date, at 10:30 AM. So it's best to have your calendar handy and be punctual if you want to snag your time slot. Latecomers can still try their luck through the waitlist. Also note that tables seat a maximum of six people and the restaurants don't accommodate large groups or private events.

The golden rule to secure your date: planning ahead!
