It's official: Paris is now playing in the big leagues when it comes to pizza. Whether it's the classic Margherita or bolder creations, with New York, Roman, or Neapolitan crust, this dish can be endlessly reimagined depending on the city.
An international ranking established by food journalists highlights the best pizzas in the world, with the top spot awarded to Manhattan, at « Mama’s Too ».

Paris joins the table of the greats
But the real surprise is found in Paris : the capital stands out by climbing to the 14th spot on the list with Oobatz, a pizzeria located in the 11th arrondissement. This is a significant recognition for this already well-known spot among discerning food lovers.
At its helm, Daniel Pearson, who has notably worked at Ten Belles, made a name for himself back in 2022 at Rigmarole thanks to his naturally leavened dough. After a pop-up period, he has now settled his ovens near Rue Oberkampf, in a minimalist space where you can watch the pizzaiolo work like a conductor.

Oobatz, the Roman pizza experience in Paris
Here, there are no compromises: authentic Roman inspiration, thin and crispy crust, 36-hour fermentation, and toppings that change with the seasons and the chef's mood.
The pizzas are numbered, from the perfectly crafted margherita to bolder versions featuring spicy salsiccia, asparagus, meatballs, or caciocavallo. The name Oobatz, which means "crazy" in Italian-American slang, perfectly captures the spirit of this place: creative, a little crazy, but always well-executed. To complement all this, there’s a wonderful selection of natural wines, by the glass or bottle.
