Starting from January 1, 2025, Crit’Air 3 vehicles will be banned from Paris and the 79 municipalities of the Petite Couronne during the week, from 8 AM to 8 PM (weekends and public holidays excluded), within the A86 perimeter. As a result, over 8 million cars will be excluded from Paris and Lyon, representing more than 21% of the current vehicle fleet. It's a little revolution in the framework of the Low Emission Zone (ZFE).

The Vehicles Affected

If your diesel car is over 14 years old or if your gasoline vehicle is celebrating 19 birthdays (or more), it’s time to think about an alternative. The Crit’Air 3 stickers, which adorn these old machines, are in the spotlight. For those who have one last trip to make, a 24-hour pass will be available, allowing for up to 12 days of circulation in the restricted area per year. As for road police? No need to panic right away: automated sanctions won’t kick in until 2026.

For a Greener City

Grand Paris, often criticized for its repeated delays, is finally taking action to reduce pollution and improve our quality of life starting January 1st. While this measure might annoy some, it aims to make the capital and its surroundings more breathable (and maybe, let's be honest, a tad less congested).

With the implementation of this measure, alternatives to individual car use are developing even further. Paris and its surroundings offer a dense public transport network, and infrastructure for gentle mobility like biking continues to expand. Carpooling and electric vehicles are becoming more accessible thanks to subsidies and financial incentives.

So, are you ready to leave your car in the garage and dive into the great plunge of gentle mobility?
