With the long weekends coming up, you're probably already planning trips in every direction. But are you heading out from the right train station? Once more, we've checked Google Maps for you to create a ranking of Parisian train stations based on ratings from locals. And the worst one is (no surprise): Gare du Nord!

Distressed Passengers

Despite its prestigious destinations (such as London and Brussels) and breathtaking architecture, it's chaos for this mainline station, as Gare du Nord struggles to score only 3.4. The culprit? Its dirtiness, lack of security, scams targeting tourists… in short, nothing to be proud of.

And at the same time, knowing it's located in the worst district, and that the metro station bearing the same name is among the worst stations in the City of Light, it's no wonder that. The train station is at the bottom of the ranking. Some comments try to improve its reputation as best they can ("Honestly, after reading the different reviews, I was expecting worse. I was pleasantly surprised."). However, this is not enough.Sure, I'll move it up the list for you! 😊

Unpopular Parisian Train Stations

But hey, let's not be too quick to judge Gare du Nord, okay? It may not be everyone's favorite, but hey, it does stand out a bit with a pretty decent score. Bercy station even ties with our northern station. And despite its size and the comments, it managed to snatch the silver medal, not quite sharing the top spot on the podium.

On the flip side, the top stations in Paris are (also tied) Gare Montparnasse and Gare de l'Est. And let's not throw a big party just yet, as they only scored a 3.8, with some not-so-enthusiastic reviews. Let's just appreciate what we have! I gotta give a shoutout to X X's review, complaining about the bathroom location in the station: "The toilets are all the way at the end of the station. Seriously, why not on the Kerguelen Islands?" So they only rated it a measly 2/5.

An overall ranking that leaves something to be desired

So you will have understood, if, on paper, the Gare du Nord finds itself at the bottom of the rankings, we can see however that the city has a general effort to make in terms of the quality of its train stations. Especially considering that hundreds of thousands of tourists (some of whom arrive by train) are preparing to flock to the streets (and stops) of Paris for the Olympic Games.

We are excited to share with you the complete list, which is just around the corner: - Gare Montparnasse - 15th: 3.8 - Gare de l'Est - 10th: 3.8 - Gare de Lyon - 12th: 3.7 - Gare Saint-Lazare - 8th: 3.7 - Gare d'Austerlitz - 13th: 3.5 - Gare de Bercy - Bourgogne - 12th: 3.4 - Gare du Nord - 11th: 3.4.
