Do you have a trip planned for spring 2025 and are looking to fly out of Orly Airport ? If you live in Paris and were planning to take the traditional Orlybus to the airport, you might want to rethink your plans. Starting from March 3rd, this bus line, which has been around for over 60 years, will be disappearing for good. This decision was made by Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) due to a sharp decline in ridership.

A drop in ridership for the Orlybus

With a bus that comes every 8 to 15 minutes from 6 AM to 12:30 AM, connecting only Denfert-Rochereau to Orly, and a metro that runs every three minutes and travels all over the city and its northern suburbs to the airport, the choice is pretty clear!

Since its launch à l’été 2024, the metro line 14 has stolen the spotlight from the Orlybus, as it connects Saint-Denis - Pleyel to Orly airport with stops all around the city. The results are clear: Orlybus has seen a drop of about 70% in its ridership over just a little more than six months. The metro line 14 now offers a much faster and more reliable way to get to the airport , as confirmed by IDFM to the Figaro.

The metro, a cheaper alternative

The metro is a...

detriment of the bus, a blessing in disguise ? Perhaps, in a way. If the price for an Orlybus ticket was €13, the ticket for metro line 14 costs €10.30. So all travelers can make a little saving. For Pass Navigo holders, nothing changes : the trip by metro to Paris-Orly is still included in the subscription, just as it was with the Orlybus. The budget previously dedicated to the Orlybus will instead be allocated to the Roissybus that serves the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport.
