Two events for the price of one
Mark your calendars: the Sturgeon Full Moon will officially be the last major full moon of summer. But this full moon will have something truly special about it, as it will come with an eclipse. Now, this won't be an eclipse similar to the one last August 11th: this time, it's a partial lunar eclipse that will take place. 96% of the lunar disk will be in shadow when the maximum is reached.

A Magnificently Colored Moon
And that's not all! During the eclipse, the Moon will take on a beautiful copper-red color that will give it a truly majestic appearance. You'll need to be an early riser to catch this exceptional phenomenon in the capital: the partial eclipse will begin around 4:30 a.m., with its peak expected at 6:12 a.m.
Why is it called the "Sturgeon Full Moon," you might ask? Because in tradition, sturgeon was a fish that was heavily fished in August in the Great Lakes region of North America.
