Originally envisioned at Mont-Valérien in Suresnes, the museum-memorial for terrorism was set to be established at this highly historical site. However, due to costs considered too high, the project had to revise its plans.

In the end, the museum will be located in a decommissioned barracks in the 13th arrondissement, a decision approved by Emmanuel Macron and communicated to the associations of victims of the 2015 attacks.

A change of direction for a meaningful project

The chosen barracks, covering a surface area of 3,000 m², offers several advantages: a central location, minimal renovation needed, and the possibility to retain the scenography envisioned for Mont-Valérien.

This choice firmly establishes the project in central Paris, close to the public, in a neighborhood experiencing cultural transformation.

A tribute to the victims and collective resilience

Created after the 2015 attacks, the memorial museum will honor all victims of terrorism, in France and beyond. More than just a place for reflection, it aims to be a space for history and education, to understand “this wartime violence in times of peace” that has impacted our societies since the 1970s.
