Metro: Paris's busiest line closed this Sunday

Bad news for fans of the best line in Paris, a.k.a. line 14: to continue its never-ending work, the RATP has announced a traffic interruption for a good part of the day this Sunday, February 8. Watch out for the hassle!

A few days ago, we were thrilled to learn that, for the first time in the history of the Paris Metro, line 14 has surpassed line 1, becoming the most frequented line in the network on a daily basis. This hegemony is certainly worth celebrating, thanks to the unique performances of this line, both in terms of train frequency and traffic quality. However, such success requires maintenance, and to keep hold of this newly granted crown, a few works here and there are still on the agenda.


A Delicate Morning

Well, even though we love line 14 and are delighted to see it earning the recognition it deserves, let’s not kid ourselves; we’re starting to get a bit tired of the far too frequent interruptions in recent years. And even if the game is on, we...it's clearly worth the trouble, it's starting to add up. Anyway, we don't have a choice, and we're getting ready to face yet another disruption.

Indeed, on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, the purple line will be entirely inaccessible, and this until 2 PM. Of course, there will be no connections provided at any of the 21 stations located between Saint-Denis – Pleyel and Orly Airport. Luckily, a replacement bus will still be offered, but only between the Gare de Lyon and Olympiade stations. For everything else, you’ll need to figure it out on your own.


Towards always better

Behind this closure, modernization work is taking place to further enhance the performance of this unique line, which made a small revolution last year by opening a section to Orly Airport. Unfortunately, this Sunday is neither the first nor the last in a series of closures.
