Ah, the metro in summer in Paris… a vast topic. It’s both the best time to ride it, with most Parisians having deserted its corridors, and the worst, because, taking advantage of this desertion, the RATP is squeezing in as many construction projects as possible, which means closures lasting various lengths of time. And 2025 shouldn't be any different, since, for a few weeks now, there's been a flood of announcements about service interruptions. After 6 weeks of no traffic announced on the RER C, it’s now the metro line most used on the network that will face interruptions, much to the dismay of… well, everyone!
20 dark days on the yellow line
Two days? That’s manageable. A week? Still okay. Fifteen days? That’s when frustration starts to rise, but we can cope. But now, the RATP has really pushed beyond our limits, and those of all the (many) passengers of the/www.lebonbon.fr/paris/news/les-secrets-de-la-ligne-1-du-metro/"> line 1, announcing no less than 20 consecutive days of service interruptions this summer, which is no less than 3 weeks. And this affects the entire western section of the line, much to the dismay of all the unfortunate souls who have no choice but to head to La Défense every morning.

So yes, we know, it’s quite logical to do this in the summer, because people go on vacation, the capital empties out, its public transport too, and blah blah blah. However, some of us are stuck in the heart of Paris during the heatwave, trying to pay their rent. And while it’s never fun to head to La Défense every single day, if on top of that you have to take the RER A, it’s really double trouble. So here’s wishing a lot of courage in advance to all the workers affected.
750,000 commuters in trouble
In detail, no trains will run from August 11 to 31 for over 700,000 daily travelers on the line between La Défense and Charles de Gaulle – Étoile stations. The stations.La Défense, Esplanade de la Défense, Pont de Neuilly, Les Sablons, Porte Maillot, and Argentine will be completely inaccessible and will not provide connections. On its side, Charles-de-Gaulle – Étoile will be temporarily promoted to the super stylish title of temporary terminus for the entire duration of the disruptions.

Behind these quite challenging works lies an important project to replace the tracks at Les Sablons station. A replacement bus will, of course, be set up throughout the entire duration of the works. But hey, we want to give you a heads up—you’re not out of the woods yet! The line 1 is just a tiny part of the challenges awaiting us this summer, with no less than 8 metro lines having their service interrupted. Yay!
