Attention users of the oldest line in Paris, I've named it 1 ! From now until December 22nd, every weekend from 4 PM to 11 PM - for three consecutive weekends starting today -, access to the Tuileries station will be closed according to RATP. On its website, the Paris transport operator states that there are "security measures".

Managing the crowds at the Christmas market

Every year, the Tuileries Christmas market attracts millions of visitors, Parisians, tourists, or foreigners, all seeking a bit of magic on one of the largest streets in Paris. 2024 will be no exception as the Christmas market returned on November 16, 2024 and will remain in place ju.

effective January 1, 2025.

In 2023, RATP had to urgently close access to the Tuileries station on December 25 due to an “exceptional influx” caused by the festivities happening outside. This year, nearly three million visitors are expected at the Christmas market stands. The Régie autonome des transports parisiens has therefore chosen to proactively close access to the Tuileries station every weekend from 4 PM to 11 PM, which is when the market sees the highest foot traffic.

As a replacement, travelers can head to the Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre station, the second closest station also located on metro line 1, as well as line 7, or even to the Hôtel de Ville station.

Another station closed in December

The Tuileries station won't be the only one closed on the first weekend of December. From December 7 to 8, access to the Cité station on line 4, and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station, served by both metro line 4 and RER B, will also be closed due tothe reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral to the public. Connections at the station will also be impossible. Similarly, on December 7 from 5 PM to 11 PM, access to the Po...Nine will be closed.

About fifty heads of state and 3,000 guests are expected at the cathedral square on December 7th. On the quays, an area will be set up to welcome a maximum of 40,000 people, and traffic restrictions are also planned across the entire Île de la Cité and part of the Left Bank quays, from the Tournelle Bridge to the New Bridge.
