Metro: one of the worst lines in Paris will be closed this Sunday

A tough blow for the users of line 13. Not only are they forced day after day to squeeze in like sardines on one of the worst lines in the capital — sharing the title with line 8 — but this Sunday will also bring them extra hassle with the total closure of the line for several hours. We're here to fill you in on all the details.

There are news in life that are both good and bad. When there's nothing left to eat for breakfast (yikes), and that means we have to stop by the bakery to grab a croissant on our way to work (yum). When you spill a glass of red wine on your sofa cushion (ugh), but it was a hideous gift from an aunt you don't like too much (great!). When line 13 is closed for repairs and you have to change your routine (so annoying), but that means the worst line in Paris is getting a makeover (hooray!). And that's exactly what we have to look forward to this Sunday, March 29th.


A blessing in disguise

We know, taking line 13 is a nightmare. Between technical issues, crowded carriages, and delays of all sorts, we sometimes consider making detours of several minutes just to avoid getting on that blue line.

But, the situation could soon change, as the most hated metro in Paris (equal to line 8, we admit) is currently undergoing a massive modernization.

Fantastic news that promises a much nicer and more efficient line soon, but it does mean we have to go through a somewhat less cool phase: the construction work. Why is it less cool, you might ask? Simply because it involves delays, traffic disruptions, and even temporary station closures, affecting various stations. And that's exactly the case this Sunday.


A morning darkened on the sky blue line

Indeed, from when the service opens until noon, the entire line will be completely inaccessible along its entire length, and of course, no transfers will be possible. However, a replacement bus will be provided only between the stations Asnières–Gennevilliers–Les Courtilles and Porte de Clichy. For everything else, you'll need to get a bit creative!

;, and by borrowing the other bus and metro lines at your disposal. However, we comfort ourselves by saying that this closure, although unexpected, does indeed happen on a Sunday, and it gives us a very good excuse to lounge in bed until noon!
