Here's some great news that brings us joy. This weekend, the city of Suresnes hosted an exceptional event: the Suresnes Baguette Show. A unique gathering, during which a dozen artisans rolled up their sleeves (literally), to beat together the record for baking the longest baguette in the world. And one thing is for sure, they smashed the record of our Mediterranean neighbors, with a dough of over 140 m! That'll teach them to try to do something other than pasta or pizza dough...

A Colossal Work

To achieve this extraordinary feat, the 12 members of the Bakery Union of Greater Paris (including 6 from Suresnes) worked tirelessly for hours. The festivities began at 3am, no rest for the brave, where they had to knead a monstrous dough, made of 90 kg of flour, 60 liters of water, 1.2 kg of salt, and 1.2 kg of yeast, before shaping it, and baking it, the most delicate step.

For this, the bakers worked for over 10 hours with a rolling oven under a tent, to brown this massive tradition in the most uniform way possible. But, as all work deserves payment, it was prestige that rewarded our workers this time, since the m.An elephant of 140.53 m has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest baguette in the world. Victory!

A day full of twists and turns

If, fortunately, the result is there, our champions nonetheless had a little scare during the day. While the first two-thirds of the baguette were already perfectly baked thanks to the oven specially designed for the event, a piece of baguette touched the ceiling of it. But, if, heaven forbid, the bread were to break, no record! All's well that ends well though, it came out of the oven in one piece...

... Before being carefully cut once the record was announced. The first half was generously covered with spreadable paste, and shared with all the locals or tourists who came for the occasion. The second half was distributed that evening to people in need, as part of a rally organized by the city. Anyway, we only have one thing to say: bravo to everyone. France is proud of you.
