This Parisian neighborhood is voted one of the 10 coolest in the world!

A new ranking came out this week, and we were thrilled to learn that a neighborhood in Paris is among the coolest places in the world. This spot, which is clearly on its way to becoming the place to be (if it’s not already), is located… right in the heart of the 20th!

No more suspense, the coolest neighborhood in Paris is none other than the charming little village of Menilmontant! With its bars, bucolic charm, fascinating history, and tiny cobblestone streets, it truly has what it takes to steal hearts. This former wine-producing village showcases the best of the capital: an accessible city, community living, and warm little shops, far away from the sometimes intimidating atmosphere of the museums and grand monuments of the City of Light.


A wonderful achievement for the capital

For 8 years now, our friends at Time Out have been annually ranking the stylish neighborhoods across the globe. And this year...

e, the French capital can be proud of its ranking, achieving a wonderful 7th place (out of 39 neighborhoods) thanks to Ménilmontant. It's an impressive performance, especially considering that last year, the Belleville street finished 20th, behind Marseille, the top French city.

We are super happy about this amazing entry into the top 10, which we owe to a lively, vibrant neighborhood that stands out for its history as a hamlet known for winemaking, filled with all kinds of guinguettes, and then as a typical working-class area. Today, this place, bordered by the boulevard de Ménilmontant and the rue des Pyrénées, is known for its little gems and culinary delights that Parisians absolutely adore.


The world is cool

This 7th position in the ranking is even more gratifying considering that you have to wait for the 21st place to find another French city, namely Marseille, and more specifically the Endoume neighborhood. However, the ranking is clear, and coolness, far from being exclusive to one place, is everywhere!

France can be found in all corners of the world. Indeed, if it's the neighborhood of Jimbocho in Tokyo that takes home the gold medal, we also see neighborhoods from each of the continents in the top 10. Borgerhout in Antwerp (2nd place), Barra Funda in São Paulo (3rd), Avondale in Chicago (5th), and Labone in Accra, Ghana (10th).
