The Editor

In late February, we introduced you to the worst districts in Paris for cycling, to be avoided at all costs. But because we're nice, we have decided to now share with you the most pleasant ones, so you don't always see the glass as half empty. And one thing is for sure, some places are truly perfect for cyclists.

The 12th district

First of all, you should know that the 12th district is where the city invests the most in developing bike paths. There is a fairly exceptional concentration of repair shops, which can always come in handy (special shoutout to Crozatier Street, with the highest number of bike shops per square meter), and honestly, the bike lanes are in very good condition. Let's give a round of applause for...On the street of Faubourg Saint-Antoine, it's really pleasant. And on top of that, not too many hills, it's quite green around Daumesnil and Porte Dorée, or the Coulée Verte, in short, a real treat for riders. And if you haven't started. If you haven't started cycling in Paris yet (big mistake), this is the perfect place to start. The 1st It really lives up to its name, number 1, because it is truly one of the best cycling spots in the capital. Why, you ask? Because it's charming. The Tuileries gardens, the Louvre, the riverbanks, it's full of lovely spots where you can enjoy yourself, even in the morning on your way to work. Well, like all others, it does have its little inconveniences, like the never-ending roadworks on Rue de Rivoli, but still, we think it handles them better than most. And it's the perfect place if you want to play the role of a picture-perfect Parisian tourist.

The 4th

Just like in the 1st, here you'll find all the benefits of the riverbanks and monuments, but even better. Because the bike lanes are improved, wider, less bumpy, and there are way fewer cars! In addition to that, similar to the 12th, you'll find a good number of small shops dedicated to bicycles. And most importantly, a key point (if not the most important on this list), it is one of the districts with the highest number of Vélib' per stations. And for those of you who swear by the little blue bikes, that is probably the key to happiness.

The 19th arrondissement

When compared to its neighboring districts, the 18th and the 10th, the 19th stands out as a great place for cycling. It boasts the highest number of dedicated cycle lanes, which is pretty impressive. Plus, it's not as crowded as other areas, meaning we can avoid those pesky evening traffic jams on Magenta boulevard. And to make things even better, there are some delightful strolls to be had between the Canal de l'Ourcq, Buttes-Chaumont, and Parc de la Villette.

The 14th Arrondissement

The 14th Arrondissement is a vibrant blend of different experiences. Whether you need to get somewhere quickly, like Gare Montparnasse, or you're looking for a relaxing ride through Parc Montsouris, this neighborhood has something for everyone. With its wide avenues and plenty of bike lanes, it's a cyclist's paradise. And if you're still not convinced, here's a fun fact: the 14th Arrondissement has the highest number of Velib bikes in circulation! So hop on a bike and explore this charming area for yourself!
