Techno Parade 2025: the event canceled for the second year in a row

Electronic music fans won't be seeing the Techno Parade anytime soon. Already canceled in 2024 due to the Olympic Games, the Technopol association announced on Thursday, July 17, that they couldn't gather the necessary budget to bring the event back, which has traditionally taken place at the end of September. This great free and popular event, which celebrated its 25th anniversary with 400,000 people in attendance in 2023, will thus not take place this year.

The Techno Parade Abandoned by Sponsors

Two months before the event, it's a huge blow for Technopol, who thought they could finalize their budget to bring back this must-attend event of the fall. The Techno Parade is “mainly supported by private brands, but these are becoming increasingly difficult to mobilize,” explains the association in a statement. We have therefore decided to rethink our funding model, working with long-term partners to ensure our event's survival and sustainability.  Founded in 1998 under the initiative of Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, this is the fifth time in its history that the event has been canceled (following the attacks of September 11, 2001, the economic crisis...).

covid, then the Olympics).

The promise of an unforgettable edition in 2026

However, those night owls, ravers, house music fans, drum'n'bass enthusiasts, trance lovers, and regulars of the Techno Parade can breathe easy: Technopol promises them a grand return of the event in 2026. "The goal is clear. The next edition will take place in 2026, this year being marked by a discussion with public and private partners about a renewed model that is just as ambitious for the Techno Parade, over 25 years after its creation," emphasizes the association in its statement.

After two years on pause, let's just say the bar will be set very high with "the inclusion of French Electronic Music in the national inventory of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO." A symbolic measure that shows the desire to combat the stigma surrounding this somewhat marginalized musical genre, whose history...is closely linked to that of clubs, and it's waiting to be discovered at the new summer exhibition at the Grand Palais Immersif. To bring a little comfort and plenty of dancing.
