We’re used to seeing in the sky moons with all sorts of names. Flowers, strawberries… They usually have quite attractive names. But between October 6 and 8, 2025, there's going to be a full moon with a name that’s a lot less sweet hovering over us for a night: the Hunter's Moon. History, upcoming moons to watch for… Let’s dive into the meaning of this curious moon!

Bigger and brighter than a regular moon

More than just a regular moon, the Hunter's Full Moon is actually a supermoon in Aries — the first of the year. It gets its name in reference to the provisions made in anticipation of the approaching winter. And it has a special feature: it will be 14% larger than a traditional moon. Its brightness will also be impacted: it will be 30% brighter than normal. This is mainly due to its closeness to Earth and the fact that it is fully illuminated by the Sun. Considering the rarity of this phenomenon — which occurs only a few times a year — you definitely don’t want to miss it! Will it have an effect on you? Opinions seem divided, but some say that emotions are heightened.

es and sometimes even multiplied by ten.

The first supermoon in a series of three

The most fabulous part about it? It will be easily visible in France. The ideal situation, of course, is to get as far away as possible from any light pollution, especially if you plan to take photos. However, if you happen to miss this one, don’t worry: two more supermoons are on the schedule this year, on November 5th (Beaver Moon) and December 5th (Cold Moon).
