And we're off again for another round! In just a few days, a new line will be added to the ever-growing list of metros affected by closures that are more or less inconvenient since the beginning of the year. Around the time of the Easter holidays, one of them will be partially closed for no less than 9 days, affecting its most important section, no less. We're here to give you all the details about this new inconvenience that might not make everyone happy.
Nine dark days on the orange line
Dear fans of line 5, we have some very, very bad news for you. While work was already scheduled during the spring holidays on the lines 6, 10, and 14, as well as on RER A and B, the line connecting Place d’Italie to Bobigny has just been added to the list, and let's just say that it's not going to be fun.

To keep it short, the line will be closed from Tuesday, April 15, to Wednesday, April 23, 2025 inclusive, between the stations Place d’Italie and Bastille. This means that for 9 days (which feels like an eternity for Parisians on their way to work), no train will stop at Quai de la Râpée, Gare d'Austerlitz, Saint-Marcel, Campo-Formio and Place d'Italie. And Bastille, on its side, will be temporarily upgraded to the proud title of temporary terminus.
Work, and more work
Behind this closure, partial as it may be, but still rather inconvenient, lies a project to renew the track equipment. These actions are « essential to ensure the passenger safety, preserve the sustainability of structures », as explained by RATP on its website. If it's for our safety, then we're okay with putting in a little extra effort to catch our train to Orléans. Just shows how we are really ready to make any sacrifices.

In the meantime, rest assured, the Paris transport authority has certainly arranged for a replacement bus service throughout the duration of the work. You can also opt for other nearby lines, like line 6, 7, or 14. Or you might decide to walk, because after all, the beautiful days are coming back, and stretching your legs has never hurt anyone.
