The Editor

Dear friends fans of line 9, we have some rather unfortunate news for you. Throughout this new year, which has barely just begun, the cars of the apple green line will regularly be at a complete stop, and this will be total. There will be closures spread over several weekends until June, lasting between 1 and 2 days. And, to top it all off, it starts this Sunday!

A new driving system

The reason for this complete shutdown of line 9 is "the improvement of the train driving system". It's an enormous modernization project that will bring the trains closer together, ensuring more fluidity and regularity. However, the catch is that the implementation of a new onboard system, essential for these optimizations, is being done directly from the train drivers' cabin, requiring a complete shutdown of the line during the time of the work.

Equip all the trains. Between installation and testing, RATP is planning 8 blackout days on the network during which no one will be able to rely on trains running from Boulogne to Montreuil.

A Calendar to Remember

To kick off the year on the right foot, the first of these interruptions will take place this Sunday, January 19, during which the line will be at a standstill. This will be followed by February 2 and 16, March 9 and 30, May 4 and 31, and June 1. And the cherry on top, the Paris transport authority has also announced a few days of maintenance and disruptions at the beginning of next August, right before the permanent launch of the new system. We're still waiting to find out how much delay to expect and if any other workdays will be announced in the meantime.

Alternative Solutions

To make up for these slight inconveniences, the RATP, in its great kindness, has decided to set up replacement buses. But be careful, these buses will not serve the entire line, just some sections, between Pont-de-Sèvres and Michel-Ange-Auteuil (to connect to line 10 or the T2), and between Nation and Mairie-de-Montreuil (for lines 1 or 6 or the T3b). So, it's a relative compensation, and you’ll likely need to make a few more changes to reach your destination during these hellish days.
