Since the beginning of March, the big races have been happening one after another in the capital. The semi-marathon, the 10 km of the Champs-Élysées, 10 km of the Neuf, and the EcoTrail of Paris are just a few examples of the abundance of sports events, with runners ready to hit the starting blocks every weekend. And before tackling the biggest one of all, aka the Paris Marathon taking place in mid-April, this Sunday it's the Grande Course du Grand Paris that will kick things off. However, just a reminder, while athletes will be giving their all, drivers will have to do the same, as a race through the streets of Paris means endless restrictions.
A supportive and diverse race
Created by the RATP, the Grande Course du Grand Paris returns this weekend for a new edition. This event aims to be supportive and especially eco-friendly, while offering...
A local organic supply, plastic-free, and a wooden medal for the runners, which contains sunflower seeds to plant in the ground. On the sports event side, the goal is simple: just like the metros and RER of the capital, the runners aim to connect the center of the capital to the Grand Paris.Un premier 10 km bouclé #GrandeCourseduGrandParis avec une arrivée dans l’antre des Champions du Monde. To achieve this feat, participants can choose from 3 formats. First, there’s a 5 km run starting from the Pleyel neighborhood, which serves as a tribute to last year's Olympics. Next, there’s a 10 km where runners will kick off from the Place de la République and will pass through the Saint-Martin Canal, and then through the canals of La Villette and Saint-Denis. Lastly, for the bravest souls, there’s a half-marathon that will traverse the Bois de Vincennes, the 11th and 12th districts, before making its way to Stalingrad and La Villette. The finish line for all three events will be set within the legendary Stade de France.
Numerous Restrictions
To ensure the course is set up and especially to guarantee everyone's safety, Runners, of course, no motor vehicles will be accepted during the time designated by the prefecture of Paris. Therefore, it will be completely forbidden to park in the 12th on route de la Ferme, between route du Fort de Gravelle and route de la Tourelle, from March 29, 2025, at 2 PM until March 30, 2025, at 2 PM. Other parking restrictions are also expected throughout the entire weekend on the whole route.

As for the traffic, it’s the same fight, there are about forty streets, avenues, and little alleys that will be completely off-limits, as ordered by the Paris prefecture, for some starting Sunday, March 30 at 4 AM and lasting until 3:30 PM. But honestly, since the lists of all these prohibitions are as long as your arm, we won’t bore you with copying them out, and we suggest you discover them for yourselves in the official decree from the prefecture, available to check out right here!
