As summer is in full swing and Parisians are still on the hunt for a few swimming spots that the capital has to offer, an exciting new project is coming up just a few miles from the city. A XXL aquatic complex is about to sprout in Créteil, featuring sports pools, fun areas, a sunbathing space, a sauna, a gym… But be ready to be patient, as the project won't be completed until 2028!
A giant complex blending sports and relaxation
Backed by the Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir and the city of Créteil, the new aquatic center will be located in the Brèche neighborhood and will replace the current André Dassibat gymnasium, reports Actu.fr.

The complex will span over 7,300 m2 of space, including: a 50-meter competitive swimming pool with 700 spectator seats (which means it can host high-level competitions); a second pool of 250 m2 primarily dedicated to activities like aquagym and aquabike; a third fun pool of 200 m2 that opens up to a sun terrace; and a 90 m2 wading pool for the little ones.© Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir
But in addition to being a new paradise for swimmers, this place will also be a true hub of wellness and relaxation, offering everyone saunas and relaxation spaces on the upper floor, a south-facing terrace with a view of the Brèche park, as well as a 1,500 m2 sports center with a dedicated table tennis room, a judo mat, and a weight training room.
Energy efficiency and solar panels are on the agenda
The estimated cost of this large-scale project is around 29.3 million euros, states Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir, emphasizing that it fits within their "pool plan", a program that aims to promote swimming skills alongside energy efficiency. To meet this second requirement, 2,850 m2 of photovoltaic panels will be installed.
being installed on the roof, aimed at producing at least 25% of the complex's electricity consumption. At the same time, the GPSEA plans a system for recovering and reusing leak and rainwater, estimating a water consumption of less than 80 liters per swimmer compared to 150 to 200 liters for current pools. But for now, we can only dream of these new spaces: the start of construction is scheduled for 2027, with an estimated delivery in 2028.© Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir
