It was feared, it has arrived. This Thursday, December 12, will kick off the social movement announced by SNCF. A strike that should be less impactful than expected, as only two unions, CGT-Cheminots and SUD-Rail, are still calling for mobilization. A « normal service » is therefore expected for the TGVs, and light disruptions are likely to be felt in the regions with « a national average of eight trains out of ten » running.

RER Lines Facing Major Disruptions
In Île-de-France, the RER will be the most affected, with significant disturbances expected. There will be a "very heavily disrupted traffic on line D" especially, scheduled for Thursday, December 12, and Friday, December 13. The RER B and line R will also experience similar issues. As for the RER C, line H, line N, and line V, services will be disrupted. For the other lines, operations should be relatively normal, but we encourage you to make arrangements or work from home if possible! 🏡

Two of the four unions rallying have called off the strike
This social movement follows the end of SNCF Freight, which was dismantled for having received illegal state aid between 2007 and 2019, according to the European Commission. The unions Unsa-Ferroviaire and CFDT-Cheminots have decided to abandon the strike since an agreement was signed with management regarding the transfer of railway workers from Freight to the subsidiaries Hexafret and Technis by January 1, 2025. These workers will notably be able to keep their rights for three years, as highlighted by Le Monde. On the other hand, SUD-Rail encourages everyone to “keep fighting for p&.”renew these rights beyond this period ». Dissatisfied with these proposals deemed « insufficient », the CGT and SUD-Rail « demand a new meeting with SNCF management before or during the strike ».
