If you're heading to Essonne this weekend, watch out: the RER C will be completely shut down between Invalides and Juvisy, as well as between Invalides and Massy Palaiseau, on Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12. This closure is part of the « big works weekends » being carried out by SNCF and Île-de-France Mobilités.

Two major lines are out of service

As a result, no trains will serve the stations of Athis-Mons, Juvisy, Massy Verrières or Massy Palaiseau for two days. A partial resumption is planned for Sunday starting at 5 PM, but only for trains heading to Dourdan and Saint-Martin-d'Étampes, departing from the “Grandes Lignes” platforms in Paris. However, by 11 PM, the service will once again be interrupted and replaced by a bus service.

Alternative plans… more or less convenient

Transilien SNCF strongly recommends that travelers plan their journeys in advance and consider using other lines. To get from Paris to Juvisy, it's suggested to take the RER D from Gare de Lyon or one of the local bus lines (480, 482, 483, or 487) from Choisy-le-Roi. To reach Massy, it's also advised to prefer the RER B from Saint-Michel Notre-Dame.

At the same time, a specific bus shuttle will be set up between Pont de Rungis and Massy Palaiseau for those who don’t mind a little detour.

On the user side, the news isn’t going over well. On X, the association Circule quips: “In Essonne, we’ll still have the RER B, the RER D, and plenty of buses… but it’ll take twice as long.” In short, if you need to travel through these areas this weekend, we wholeheartedly recommend bringing a good dose of patience!
