We finally know what's going to replace the Fnac on the Champs-Élysées!

Start of 2025, it was a little fiasco happening on the most famous avenue in the world. And for good reason! While the legendary Fnac nearby was organizing a huge clearance sale for a whole week to clear out its stock before closing, it had to pull down the curtain sooner than planned due to the crazy crowd. A tragedy for the cultural company, which had to suddenly say goodbye. A windfall for the neighboring store, which quickly positioned itself to take over the premises… and has just won the case. But then, what will replace the vinyl records, comic books, and video games ?

Farewell to culture

For several years now, it’s known that the Champs-Élysées has turned its back on culture to embrace establishments.

more than just responding to the needs of the local population, it’s about tourists (somewhat wealthy), tourists (wealthy), and tourists (very wealthy). Huge crowds flocking to shop on this legendary avenue and showcase themselves on social media.

So it’s not really a surprise that we heard just a few days ago that the Zara store located right next to the entrance of Fnac (and therefore above it, since the latter was in the basement) will be taking over these premises. Indeed, right after the announcement of the closure, the name was already buzzing around, and it was officially confirmed on March 28 by the committee responsible for reviewing various projects.

One of the biggest flagships in the world

By taking over the space that has been occupied by Fnac since 1997, the Spanish brand is making a masterful move, allowing them to almost double their retail space, increasing from 2,300 to 4,300 m². Quite an achievement, which enables the Champs-Élysées location to shine bright!

to instantly become one of the greatest brands in the world. Exciting shopping hours ahead for those who appreciate the thrill…

Even though we clearly understand that, for financial reasons, only a company as big and influential as Zara can afford such rent in this part of the capital, we're still a bit sad that the spotlight is once again on fast fashion and overconsumption. When will we see a national initiative to set up a huge independent bookstore on the Champs? Now, that's a lovely project, don’t you think?
