Just a few weeks after the passing of her grandfather, it seems that Marion Maréchal has dried her tears and is ready to return to the front line to represent her political party with its rather questionable ideals. And to say the least, she's aiming high, announcing right away her intention to represent the Parisian people, most of whom have shown time and again that they are very reluctant to the ideas proposed by the far-right.

A grand project

She clearly has no intention of taking her time. Barely a few months after being elected MEP, Marion Maréchal is looking towards new horizons to return to a more local scale. According to information revealed by Le Point,

On Wednesday, January 29, Marine's niece would have asked her teams to start thinking about a strategy for her candidacy.

A announcement that's like a negativity bomb for the capital, but also a little within the far-right, since it casts a shadow over the candidacy of RN Thierry Mariani, which has been official since 2023. Being a good sport, he simply remarked that he primarily wanted to reach 10% of the votes for the far-right, thereby gaining representatives in the Paris Council.

A threat not to be underestimated

Even though, on paper, one could laugh at this news, arguing that Parisians have always shown themselves to be mostly left-leaning in recent elections, it should not be taken lightly. Emmanuel Grégoire, candidate for the Socialist nomination in 2026, reminds us that according to polls, more than 15% of the capital’s residents would be ready to vote for the far-right.

This reflects the increasing number of constituencies won by the different parties during the 2024 legislative elections. This growth might not allow Marion Maréchal to reach the throne of Paris, but it could give them representatives in the city for the first time
