The 2026 ranking is out! Last weekend, Le Parisien Étudiant published its famous list of the best high schools in the City of Light. This list allows parents and future high school students to discover the top institutions in the capital, based on the 2025 baccalaureate results provided by the Ministry of National Education, Youth, and Sports. And what a big surprise this year, the top spot wasn’t where we expected it to be.

An Unexpected Champion

As we know, the capital boasts a number of institutions among the best in the country. Louis-le-Grand, Henri-IV, or even, to our utmost dismay, Stanislas, which has long held the gold medal for the best high school in Paris, despite having some unconventional teaching methods (to put it politely).

). Hallelujah, however, according to the new ranking from Parisien Étudiant, it has been relegated to the 45th place.

And so, the Charles de Foucauld private high school in the 18th arrondissement has taken the top spot, with an impressive total score of 16.77/20 (which translates to a lovely Very Good mention in the baccalaureate, by the way). This commendable score was achieved thanks to a 100% success rate, with 86% of the students receiving mentions, and a transition rate from secondary to baccalaureate of 97%, which is quite phenomenal for a private institution in the capital!

Indomitable Giants

These same three criteria were applied to all Parisian high schools, giving an overall score that allowed the Louis-le-Grand public high school (5th arrondissement) to claim second place with an average of 16.5. And it’s the Claude Monet public high school in the right here !
