The 2024 ranking is out! This Wednesday, March 20th, L'Internaute published its famous ranking of the best high schools in France. A list that allows parents and future high school students to know the best schools in the country and in their city. As every year, Paris and its surroundings largely dominate the ranking by taking the top 23 spots. It is only at the 24th place that the first high school outside of Île-de-France appears, and it is the Lacordaire high school in Marseille. The Stanislas high school in first place The only "shadow" on the image: the high school that received the highest score in the country is none other than the private school Stanislas, targeted by several controversies in recent weeks. The institution is notably accused of sexism, authoritarianism, and d...institutionalized homophobia. Last January 16th, an investigation by Médiapart had highlighted the existence of a report from the General Inspection of National Education pointing out homophobic and sexist behavior at the Stanislas high school. On January 26th, two associations announced that they had filed a complaint for homophobic discrimination against the establishment after the exclusion, in June 2022, of a student which was allegedly motivated by her "denunciation of homophobia among staff members" at the school.

A ranking based on success at the baccalaureate

To obtain the ranking of a high school, L'Internaute uses data from the Ministry of National Education, Youth, and Sports, weighted with its own methodology that takes into account 3 criteria: the success rate at the baccalaureate, the transition rate from second year to baccalaureate within the establishment, and the rate of honors obtained by the baccalaureate graduates of the establishment. However, only high schools that had more than 100 candidates for the baccalaureate exams are included. In total, 4,300 high schools in France (general, technical, and professional) were studied.
